You are Seen and Appreciated
Parents and caregivers of children with special or additional needs are among the most inspiring, compassionate, and resilient people I have had the privilege of meeting. We all face challenges in life, but for these parents, challenges are not just occasional hurdles; they are a constant reality.
You embody strength, determination, and a fierce kind of love that really knows no bounds. Every day presents its own set of difficulties, and yet, you navigate through life with unwavering resolve.
Imagine a life where planning for tomorrow, next week, or even next year seems an insurmountable task. Where every minute and every hour is lived with the sole purpose of overcoming the immediate obstacles. You don’t have to imagine it do you – it’s your reality!
You have become adept at adapting, as you expertly maneuver around the barriers that life throws your way. But what truly sets you apart is your ability to see beyond the surface.
Where society might see limitations, you see potential. Where others might notice differences, you see the beauty and uniqueness of your child. You celebrate the small victories, the joy in simple pleasures that many of us take for granted. But let’s not gloss over the truth.
You also face exhaustion that goes beyond physical tiredness.
There are moments of despair, moments when the idea of giving up flickers through your mind. Yet, you persist. You continue to fight, to advocate, to love your child with every fibre of your being, despite any criticism, abandonment, or adversity you may face.
To the mothers, fathers, grandparents, and caregivers of these exceptional children, I stand in awe of you. Your daily battles, your sacrifices, and your unwavering commitment do not go unnoticed. I know the road is tough. I know there are days when you feel like you’re barely holding on.
But please know, you are making a monumental difference in the lives of your children.
You are truly an inspiration to us all, we see you and we thank you.
